Free Fire OB51 Update: Full Patch Notes, Weapon Changes and BR Meta Shift

Good news for Free Fire fans! With the OB51 update, the biggest patch update ever is coming to the game. This update is especially bringing a lot of changes for Battle Royal (BR) and Esports players. In this blog, we will explain every detail of the OB51 update in simple language, and see what crazy changes are coming in this update!

1. Changes in Knockdown System

A major change has been made in the knockdown system. Currently, when you get knocked down, it takes 35 seconds for your HP (Health Points) to fully run out. But after the OB51 update, this time will be reduced to 14 seconds. This means you will not be able to crawl around for a long time like before. HP will drop faster.

However, in short-range fights, knockdown time will remain 35 seconds, like when you get knocked by MP4. Also, your crawling speed has been increased by 35%, so after getting knocked, you can move a bit faster. But if you get knocked by guns like Rafael, the HP loss speed will remain the same.

2. Weapon Changes

Thompson gun gets a 2x scope and a new version

The biggest highlight of this update is that Thompson will now support a 2x scope. Until now, SMG guns like BZ and P90 had 2x support, but now Thompson will also have this feature. Along with this, a new version of Thompson called Thompson X will also be launched.

Thompson upgrades:

Damage: Increased by 3%
Armor penetration: Increased by 5%
Range: Increased by 10%
Accuracy: Increased by 5%
2x scope support added

Thompson X special features:

Damage: Increased by 3%
Rate of fire: Increased by 8%
Armor penetration: Increased by 10%
Range: Increased by 15%
Reload speed: Increased by 15%

Even without skins, Thompson X will perform very strongly, which may shift the SMG meta. Players may prefer Thompson and Thompson X over MP34, BZ, or P90. Also, the price value of Thompson in CS Rank has been increased.

New Weapons

Winchester 2: Can be purchased for 300 FF coins
M62 D Chip: Can also be purchased for 300 FF coins from the vending machine

3. Changes in Vending Machines and Items

Vending machine update:

Upgrade Chips: Now you can buy upgrade chips only two times
Free attachments removed: Now vending machines will no longer provide free attachments
Arsenal price: Reduced from 1000 to 600 FF coins
Level 3 Backpack: Reduced from 300 to 200 FF coins
Level 3 Helmet: Can now only be purchased up to 5 times

High-tier items removed:

Level 4 vest and airdrop weapons are completely removed from the map

4. Changes in Revival System

Several major changes have been made:

Landing weapons: Earlier you used to land with G8 and P9 pistols. Now you will land with M970 pistol and Bajan
Helmet and Vest durability: Previously they would get fully destroyed, but now at least 1% durability will remain
Repair Kit and Inhaler: You will now get a combo of two uses instead of one
Med Kits: You will now land with 4 Med Kits and 2 Gloo Walls, instead of 2 Med Kits.
Bonus: Med Kits will not take backpack space anymore
Coin Pickup: When you collect 200 FF coins from coin machine, you will also get 2 Med Kits
Coins after revive: You will now get 50% of your coins back after being revived
Example: If you had 1000 coins and got eliminated, after revival you will receive 500 coins

This change will make revival more useful and easier in BR mode.

5. Arsenal Upgrade

Big change in Arsenal as well.
Now you can upgrade Arsenal from outside.

Upgrade costs:

400–500 FF coins
or
Some areas: 1500 FF coins

After upgrading, you will get level 3 weapons like MP5 replaced with level 3 guns.
But Level 3 M10 and M4A1 guns are being removed from the map.

6. Skill and Other Changes

Ignis and Kenta skills will now be seen in the game
BR Meta focus: This update specially targets BR meta
In total 30-40 gameplay changes have been made that will completely change BR experience
